Hannah & Stuart’s Wedding at Hampton Court House

“When hunting for a wedding cake who knew there were so many options (or how fussy you could possibly become in finding the perfect one!!) well we found cake perfection with our beautiful cake made by Jo. We were seeking something more formal and traditional, but with a fresh modern feel to it. Jo understood the brief perfectly and we had such fun designing the cake with her, looking at which sentimental flowers could be made and included - Jo even learnt how to make a specific one for us which meant so much to us both. 

 We loved seeing how our guests were looking at our cake with the same awe as we did - trying to work out if the flowers were real or not as they truly are works of art. The cake itself was absolutely delicious, we’d made sure the top tier was saved for us to freeze for another special occasion, however we simply couldn’t resist it so ate it with our family the days after the wedding!! Jo has an absolutely incredibly talent and eye for perfection and we would absolutely recommend her wedding cakes to everyone!”

As a luxury wedding cake designer, I am wholeheartedly committed to bringing every couple’s cake vision to life, one tier at a time.

Hannah and Stuart’s ultra-elegant wedding at Hampton Court House last October was certainly no exception. The couple first discovered me at the Epson Downs Wedding Show and quickly devoured my cake sample box (which featured some of my most coveted flavours). They were so enamoured with the samples that they decided to book The Jo Harper Cake Company a year before their big day took place!

I was particularly touched when they shared with me that they had used the box they had received their samples in to keep their wedding planning book safe and sound.  

During our initial discovery call we discussed several delicious design ideas, but as their vision for their wedding day evolved, so did their cake – this is something that often happens during the design process.

Their final wedding cake creation combined a collection of stunning elements from three different designs, resulting in a bespoke and personal wedding cake that perfectly reflected the couple and their day.

For their cake flowers, they had a pompom dahlia – which they truly adored and wanted it to steal the spotlight at the front of the cake. We also incorporated jasmine, which held special significance for the couple as they seemed to have come across it wherever they travelled. Not to mention thistle, as a nod to the Scottish family members, with the rest of their sugar flowers matching their floral arrangements throughout the rest of their wedding décor.  

When it came to their wedding cake flavours, the couple opted for Cherry Bakewell, lemon and vanilla & raspberry.

The soon-to-be newlyweds had planned to save the top tier of their wedding cake (which was their favourite flavour, Cherry Bakewell) for their first child’s christening. However, just a few days following their wedding, they messaged me to ask if I could make them another cake at some point as they couldn’t resist tucking into the top tier and wanted to enjoy it before their honeymoon.  

The display for Hannah and Stuart’s wedding cake was just as important to the couple as the cake itself – which is always music to my ears!

The bride provided a lovely runner and a cake stand that added a personal touch to the cake display.

We positioned their wedding cake in front of the venue’s impressive glass doors, that allowed the light to artfully shine through the acrylic spacers, highlighting the intricate details of their edible creation.  

Every beautiful moment of their big day was captured by Lauren Knuckey Photography and Hanh Made Films – their work expertly encapsulated the elegance of their love story.

It was a huge honour to work with Hannah and Stuart to make their wedding cake dreams a reality! I look forward to working with the happy couple again in the future.
