When I receive an enquiry for a wedding at Botleys Mansion, I just know it’s going to be beautiful.
This historic mansion is surrounded by Surrey countryside, with swoon-worthy architecture and delightful gardens. It was perfect for Dawn and Alastair’s wedding day, offering classic luxury for their celebration.
The couple initially fell in love with my Belle wedding cake design, so we collaborated closely to adapt the original design and instead tailored it to fit their vision for their big day.
Dawn and Alastair wanted a wedding cake where every slice was savoured, but something that also created a statement focal point throughout their special day while matching the abundant floral displays by the Fine Flowers Company.
Together, they selected the flavours for their tiers, which included fruit cake, chocolate and vanilla & strawberry, meaning their guests were spoilt with a variety of choices to devour.
Dawn and Alastair loved the idea of a tall wedding cake but they didn’t want excess cake leftover, so we decided to incorporate a dummy bottom tier and shallow dummy tiers between the actual cake layers.
Embracing the brief of flowers, their wedding cake design featured oodles of intricate handcrafted sugar flowers that cascaded down the cake, artfully mirroring the fresh flowers that were used to style their venue. Framed with an array of delicate rose gold paint flicks, the flowers instantly added elegance to the design, aligning with the couple’s overall wedding theme.
A hand-dyed organic silk ribbon was tied around the base of the cake, matching the ribbon of the bride’s bouquet – it really was the perfect finishing touch! I even suggested to Dawn and Alastair to keep this ribbon to tie all their wedding cards together, adding a personal touch while creating a cherished keepsake from their wedding day.
As well as their floral luxury wedding cake, guests were able to tuck into tasty sweets from Sweet Treats By Lucy – this part of Dawn and Alastair’s wedding day was a true crowd pleaser!
